Yamaha Genos JM - The song of BILITIS

03:08
The Songs of Bilitis (/bɪˈliːtɪs/; French: Les Chansons de Bilitis) is a collection of erotic, essentially lesbian, poetry by Pierre Louÿs published in Paris in 1894 (see 1894 in poetry). Since Louÿs claimed that he had translated the original poetry from Ancient Greek, this work is considered a pseudotranslation.[1] The poems are in the manner of Sappho; the collection's introduction claims they were found on the walls of a tomb in Cyprus, written by a woman of Ancient Greece called Bilitis, a courtesan and contemporary of Sappho to whose life Louÿs dedicated a small section of the book. On publication, the volume deceived even expert scholars. Though the poems were actually clever fabulations, authored by Louÿs himself, they are still considered important literature. Louÿs claimed the 143 prose poems, excluding 3 epitaphs, were entirely the work of this ancient poet — a place where she poured both her most intimate thoughts and most public actions, from childhood innocence in Pamphylia to the loneliness and chagrin of her later years. Although for the most part The Songs of Bilitis is original work, many of the poems were reworked epigrams from the Palatine Anthology, and Louÿs even borrowed some verses from Sappho herself. The poems are a blend of mellow sensuality and polished style in the manner of the Parnassian school, but underneath run subtle Gallic undertones that Louÿs could never escape. To lend authenticity to the forgery, Louÿs in the index listed some poems as "untranslated"; he even craftily fabricated an entire section of his book called "The Life of Bilitis", crediting a certain fictional archaeologist Herr G. Heim ("Mr. C. Cret" in German) as the discoverer of Bilitis' tomb. And though Louÿs displayed great knowledge of Ancient Greek culture, ranging from children's games in "Tortie Tortue" to application of scents in "Perfumes", the literary fraud was eventually exposed. This did little, however, to taint their literary value in readers' eyes, and Louÿs' open and sympathetic celebration of lesbian sexuality earned him sensation and historic significance.

Top 10 Most Famous Lesbians in History

03:57
Top 10 Most Famous Lesbians and Feminists in History Lesbian relationship isn’t something that surprises people anymore. If couples have to hide even in 2017, what must it have been like a few years ago, when the LGBT community didn't understand their sexuality themselves? The LGBT community owes a lot to the men and women who came before them, knew how society felt about them, and yet, chose to love a member of the same sex openly. 10. Josephine Baker Josephine Baker (1906 – 1975) American-born French dancer, singer, and actor, was known by many monikers, such as the “Black Pearl,” “Bronze Venus,” and “Creole Goddess.” She was the first black woman to star in a major film, Zouzou. She married four times, and her adopted son Jean-Claude Baker describes his mother as a bisexual, and recalled his mother as having many “lady lovers.” 9. Frida Kahlo Frida Kahlo de Rivera (1907 – 1954), was a Mexican painter known for her self-portraits. Much has been written about Kahlo, with her works being celerated by feminists for its depiction of the female experience and form. 8. Amrita Sher-Gill Amrita Sher-Gil (1913 –1941) was an eminent Indian painter, sometimes known as India's Frida Kahlo. Her affairs with men and women were quite well known, with her using some of them as models for her work. In fact, her work Two Women is considered to be a painting of herself with her lover Marie Louise. 7. Billie Jean King Billie Jean King (born November 22, 1943) is an American former World No. 1 professional tennis player. She was the first prominent female athlete to reveal her sexuality, when details of her affair with her secretary, Marilyn Barnett, was made public. 6. Virginia Woolf Adeline Virginia Woolf (1882 – 1941) was an English writer and one of the foremost modernists of the twentieth century. Woolf had a passionate relationship with Vita Sackville-West. This relationship inspired one of Woolf's most famous novels, Orlando , featuring the life of a poet who changes sex from man to woman over centuries, meeting the key figures of English literary history. 5. Audre Lorde Audre Lorde (1934 – 1992) was a black writer, feminist, womanist, and civil rights activist. She described herself as a “black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet,” and was known for her activist work with Afro-German women in the 1980s. 4. Barbara Gittings Barbara Gittings (1932 – 2007) was a prominent American activist for gay equality. Gittings served as the President of the New York chapter of the Daughters of Bilitis, picketed the White House in the 1960s to let the world know how easily homosexuals could be fired simply on the basis of their sexual orientation. 3. Jane Addams Jane Addams known as the "mother" of Social Work (1860 – 1935) was a pioneer American settlement activist/reformer, social worker, sociologist, author, and leader in women's suffrage and world peace. She co-founded Hull House in 1889 with her first romantic partner Ellen Gates Starr. Addams was later in a relationship with Mary Rozet Smith, who was financially sound, and supported Addams's work at Hull House. Addams won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931. 2. Queen Christina of Sweden Christina (1626 – 1689) reigned as Queen of Sweden from 1632 to 1654. Queen Christina rejected the role of a woman, which was simply to provide an heir, by announcing that she did not intend to marry. Modern biographers generally consider her to have been a lesbian, with many affairs with women noted during her life. Sources have found passionate letters to Ebba Sparre, and she was supposed to have had relationships with Gabrielle de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Rachel, a niece of Diego Teixeira and the singer Angelina Giorgino. 1. Sappho Sappho (c. 630 – c. 570 BC) was an archaic Greek poet from the island of Lesbos. The word “lesbian” is literally derived from the Greek island of Lesbos, where Sappho was born. Sappho's poetry was lyric poetry, and she is best known for her poems about love. Her poems spoke of the infatuations and love, both requited and unrequited, she felt for other women. Baise m'encor - Luise Labe' lesbian poetry

01:01
I dedicate my favourite french poem to you, ma petite...

The Lair of a Lesbian Vampire - Le Vampire (Baudelaire)

01:11
This is me trying to recite Charles Baudelaire's "The Vampire" in French.

Virginie Despentes on Killing Rapists

Subscribe here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-BROADLY Virginie Despentes is a radical feminist writer and filmmaker whose work has inspired hatred and country-wide censorship as well as devoted fans. Her memoir/manifesto King Kong Theory, her graphic rape-revenge film Baise Moi, and her other books and films frequently depict themes like rape, violence, misogyny, and female friendship. But although she is a huge public figure in France, Despentes remains relatively unknown in the United States, save for the cultish appreciation she earns from feminists and radical/alternative groups. Scottish Laureate Jackie Kay on Growing Up Black and LGBTQ in a White Family | Random Acts

04:18
A short film directed by Lindsey Dryden featuring poet, writer and Third Scots Makar (poet laureate), Jackie Kay. Jackie tells an emotive story about her 12 year old self writing her first ever novel, 'One Person, Two Names' - the story is about a little girl who goes on the run from herself. The film explores what identity means today to Jackie, a Black, Scottish, lesbian writer, and reveals how storytelling and imagination can offer us a way to live with – and grow to love – our many identities. Jackie muses, “We often write because we have a secret self...another self that isn't being articulated. We often write to find a voice for that silent self ” Featuring works from 1861–1967 relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ) identities, Tate Britain’s latest exhibition ‘Queer British Art 1861–1967’ marks the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of male homosexuality in the UK. The show explores how artists expressed themselves in a time when established assumptions about gender and sexuality were being questioned and transformed. “Queer British Art 1861-1967” is on at Tate Britain until 1st October.

"Barrier" (Original Queer Poem)

01:43
a tru story Barrier Fear, I am not yours anymore. I do not belong among these cashmeres in this closet whose dust bunnies haven’t been cleared since I was a little girl with the curls my mom adored – bouncing around, oblivious to the walls knocking into my knees. At 18 I figured out that since birth everyone laid bricks around me, so slowly it only struck me when I had to gasp for fresh air above the mortar. My lips clamp tight against sentences I so badly want to tell them, tell myself: “I realized at 9 when I longed to pick Danielle up and waltz her around my room.” “I realized at 12 when Mr. Bracy’s health textbook taught me I should be Feeling Things For The Opposite Sex.” “I realized at 15 when BCMC fuckboys spotted my new pixie cut and cackled out, ‘What’s your strap on look like?’” “I realized at 18 when I fell face first at her dirty Vans, hard enough to leave a bruise that still hasn’t faded yellow.” And all these realizations come out regardless of fear, force their way through unwanted fabrics. They shoot through my fingertips, creating webs for me to land atop buildings, to rescue you innocents from fires that you don’t even know suffocate you. ♫ Claude Debussy - 3 Chansons de Bilitis No 1 - La Flute De Pan ♫

02:22
The Songs of Bilitis (Les Chansons de Bilitis) is a collection of erotic, essentially lesbian poetry written by Pierre Louÿs. Debussy, who was Louÿs' close friend, set to music three of the poems in 1897: La flûte de Pan, La chevelure and Le tombeau des Naïades — as songs for female voice and piano. Achille-Claude Debussy (French: [aʃil klod dəbysi],[1] 22 August 1862 – 25 March 1918), known since the 1890s as Claude-Achille Debussy or Claude Debussy,[2] was a French composer. He and Maurice Ravel were the most prominent figures associated with Impressionist music, though Debussy disliked the term when applied to his compositions.[3] He was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1903.[4] He was among the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and his use of non-traditional scales and chromaticism influenced many composers who followed.[5] Debussy's music is noted for its sensory content and frequent usage of nontraditional tonalities.[6] The prominent French literary style of his period was known as Symbolism, and this movement directly inspired Debussy both as a composer and as an active cultural participant. Debussy was experimental from the outset, favouring dissonances and intervals that were not taught at the Academy. Like Georges Bizet, he was a brilliant pianist and an outstanding sight reader, who could have had a professional career had he so wished.[11] The pieces he played in public at this time included sonata movements by Beethoven, Schumann and Weber, and Chopin's Ballade No. 2, a movement from the Piano Concerto No. 1, and the Allegro de concert.[12] During the summers of 1880, 1881, and 1882, he accompanied Nadezhda von Meck, the wealthy patroness of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, as she travelled with her family in Europe. The young composer's many musical activities during these vacations included playing four-hand pieces with von Meck at the piano, giving music lessons to her children, and performing in private concerts with some of her musician friends.[13] Despite von Meck's closeness[citation needed] to Tchaikovsky, the Russian master appears[to whom?] to have had minimal effect on Debussy.[citation needed] In September 1880 she sent his Danse bohémienne for Tchaikovsky's perusal; a month later Tchaikovsky wrote back to her: "It is a very pretty piece, but it is much too short. Not a single idea is expressed fully, the form is terribly shriveled, and it lacks unity." Debussy did not publish the piece, and the manuscript remained in the von Meck family; it was eventually sold to B. Schott's Sohne in Mainz, and published by them in 1932.[14] A greater influence was Debussy's close friendship with Marie-Blanche Vasnier, a singer he met when he began working as an accompanist to earn some money, embarking on an eight-year affair together. She and her husband, Parisian civil servant Henri, gave Debussy emotional and professional support. Henri Vasnier introduced him to the writings of influential French writers of the time, which gave rise to his first songs, settings of poems by Paul Verlaine (the son-in-law of his former teacher Mme. Mauté de Fleurville). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude_Debussy Performer: European Archive
